In Hinduism, Sharad Purnima believed to have very special significance in itself and it is also celebrated as Ashwin Purnima, Kojaagri Purnima, and Kaumudi Vrat.

On this day, the Moon planet comes closer to the Earth, increasing its beauty even more. At the same time, Goddess MahaLakshmi Jee was born on this auspicious day. That’s why it is also celebrated as Lakshmi Jayanti.

In north India, kheer placed outside on the night of Sharad Purnima at Moonlit night and in the next morning distributed as Prasaadam. By placing the kheer under the open sky, the Moon adds a fraction of nectar in it. It said that eating it destroys bile and phlegm related problems and all physical troubles cured. In addition to this, a healthy body and brain achieved. The Moon and Kheer are very much liked by Maa Lakshmi Jee.
