Now the thing to understand is that while cleaning the house, we remove the idols and clean them or sometimes we keep the temple from one place to another. Therefore, in the situation where we move the idols, the rule for those idols is that their size should not be more than twelve fingers. In such situations, there are guidelines for idols that are moved like their size is supposed to be smaller than 12 fingers. Idols that are movable, due to their constant movement, are said to have “Chala Pratishtha” or dynamic consecration. On the other hand, idols placed at a fixed location without any size constraints are known for “Achala Pratishtha” or static consecration. “Achala Pratishtha” requires more elaborate rituals than “Chala Pratishtha,” as it involves specific procedures, along with the need for a designated Vedic priest with expertise in rituals who are required to infuse life into the idol.

Before becoming an idol, any stone or metal is initially in a different form, and a meticulous process is undertaken to give it a specific shape.
