Worship Lord Krishna on the Occasion of Govardhan Puja to Ward off Evils of Life!

Govardhan Puja, usually, comes on the very next day of Diwali, on the first lunar day of bright lunar half of Kartik month of our Hindi calendar. It is believed that on this day, Lord Krishna defeated IndraDev to protect His followers from heavy rain. To celebrate this victory, this festival is observed by people. In some parts it is known as ‘AnnaKoot Puja’ also. Prasad prepared with wheat, rice and besan items, leafy vegetables are offered to Lord Krishna on this day.

Puja Vidhi : On the day of Govardhan Puja, pet animals are duly washed with water and oil applied on their horns to prepare for the pujan. Decorated with flower garlands and sandal wood paste applied on them to give a nice look for worshipping. Special food is prepared to feed them and in some places, an image of Govardhan Parvat is prepared from fresh cow dung and keeping an idol of Krishna, worshipping is performed. After performing ‘Aarti’, ‘Parikrama’ is performed at the end of the rituals.
