Let's talk about Kanwar Yatra:

The practice of conducting Kanwar Yatra has been going on for centuries. Shiva devotees fill pious GangaJal in pots with reverence and emotion and leave for their destination with the chanting of Bam Bam Bhole.  According to one of the etymological meanings of Kanwar, the letter ‘K’ denotes fire and ‘Awar’ means to receive it properly. The intention is that fire i.e., the Creator, the Observer, the Guardian and the Destroyer should be our guide and that should be the goal of our life.

People of all age groups participate in this revered journey with great joy and devotion. Even some devotees go to collect ‘Kanwar’ every Sawan and some people at least believe in double travel.

In the month of Sawan, Sanatan Dharma devotees from every corner of the country bring Ganga water from the nearby banks of Mother Ganga and bring ‘Kanwar’, but according to the Holy Scriptures, special importance has been given to bring ‘Kanwar’ from Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar and Gomukh, Gangotri. The devotees carry a ‘Kanwar’ on their shoulders and reach their designated destination Shivalayas, chanting ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ and on the Trayodashi and Chaturdashi Tithi of Shravan month, devotees worship the ShivLinga with great enthusiasm with the water of Ganga filled in the ‘Kanwar’ pots.

This leads to their spiritual purification and brings satisfaction of mind.
