According to puja services one of the legends mentioned in the Bhagavata Purana, the people of the Braj region would make huge offerings and sacrifices to appease Lord Indra and seek his blessings.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

His decision to end the tradition enraged Indra and to avenge the insult, he hit the region with torrential rains and thunderstorms. Indra’s anger caused the loss of property and livestock.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

People were displaced and suffered massive losses. And to end his sufferings, Krishna lifted the gigantic Govardhan Mountain with his little finger and thus provided shelter for people, and cattle.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Indra continued with his destructive plan for seven days and seven nights, and on the eighth day, he admitted defeat. Thus, he bowed to the boy, who was the embodiment of none other than Lord Vishnu.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
